My last night in Sierra Leone would be spent in Freetown after the Leone Stars game so my last night at the Academy was the friday night.
Two of the long term volunteers were heading back to the United States via Heathrow on the same BA flight as me so we decided to throw a bit of a party for the kids.
A party to them is sodas and music so we cleared out the tables in the canteen and got all their favourite songs playing and generally danced around like idiots, with the boys trying to teach me the Azzonto.
All was fine for the party but when the boys went to bed I started to feel a little queasy.. within half an hour I was projectile vomiting and I mean projectile. I have never been so sick in my life, all the way from 11pm to 6.30am - not the best end to my time here and certainly not the best thing to do when you’ve got to travel into Freetown the next day!
Luckily I was well looked after and made it through the night, although me sobbing on the bath room floor that Africa hated me probably wasn’t a good look!
I perked up a bit for the drive into Freetown but the cities heat and traffic soon did me in and when we finally got to where I was staying for my last night I completely crashed out!
